The team started off with an excellent victory against SCCAY in Buena Park. Batting on a good pitch but very slow outfield, the team was only able to put up 120 before getting all out. Devam (27 runs) and Joel (21 runs) contributed to bringing the team to a defendable total. However, the team did not give up and fought hard with the ball and in the field, forcing an early collapse for the SCCAY top order. After a good partnership in their middle order was broken, we took more and more wickets, getting them all out short by 15 runs. The bowling, fielding, and energy from the team were superb, and we look forward to carrying this attitude in future matches.
We followed up the first victory with an even better one to win the series. We lost the toss and bowled first. Despite excellent fielding and getting early wickets, the bowling was not disciplined, giving loose balls and many extras. SCCAY reached a very competitive score of 207 in 40 overs. However, our boys did not give up despite the shaky first innings. After losing a wicket in the first over, Pari A. and Aditya A. brought stability to the innings with a 72 run partnership. Aditya A. scored 25 runs before getting caught. After the quick loss of two wickets, Pari A. and Siddharth M. had a 54 run partnership to keep the team in the game with Pari A. scoring 50. After the loss of two more wickets and the game slipping away from us, Siddharth M. and Gaurav C. were able to see the team home to victory with a 62 run partnership. Siddharth M. finished not out on 46 and Gaurav C. finished not out on 25. Despite a poor bowling performance in the first innings, the team’s second innings was brilliant, with sensible batting, long partnerships, and a well-timed chase of a big total. This is a huge confidence boost for our team as we win the series. We hope to bat like this in the future and improve our bowling.
