Game 1 vs WYCA – Our first match took place in the beautiful Wong ground of the Woodley Cricket Complex. Winning the toss we chose to bat first. In the 45 over match, we got all out for 133 in 43 overs, struggling to score in a slow outfield. Aditya A. scored 28 and Joel M. scored 25 to push a team to a low but defendable total. However, our team fought very hard in the second innings, picking wickets at key times and keeping the run rate extremely low. Our tight bowling and excellent fielding were able to get WYCA all out for 116. Aditya A. once again led the attack’s bowling, taking 3/12 in 9 overs with 3 maidens. Aditya A. was the man of the match for his all-round performance. We are very impressed with our team’s fighting spirit to defend this low total.
Game 2 vs SCCAY – We lost this match at home. Batting first, our team was never able to get into rhythm, getting all out for 118. Joel M. scored 38. SCCAY quickly chased down the total, losing 5 wickets in the process. Rohan B. took 2/19 in 5.4 overs. Not the best performance by the team, but we will work hard to do better next game.
Game 3 vs WYCA – We batted first in this match at home. Our batting collapsed, and we only put up 81 on the board before getting all out. Devam S. scored 23. We bowled well, but WYCA still chased down the target losing only 3 wickets. Devam S. bowled an excellent 9-4-15-2.
Game 4 vs SCCAY – We won the toss and chose to bat first in this away game. We put up a competitive total of 187/9 in 45 overs (revised score 182). Suchit K. scored 41, Parijat A. scored 26, and Joel M. scored 23. At the start of the second innings, things were not looking very good for us with the top order scoring quickly, reaching 68/1 in 8 overs. However, we came back into the game after forcing a 3 wicket collapse. A 4th wicket partnership was then threatening to take the game away once more, but we were once again able to break through it at 137 runs. From there on we regularly picked up wickets, getting them all out at 168/10. Vardaan S. led the way for the bowling, taking a magnificent 5 wicket haul with figures of 9-5-18-5, taking wickets and forcing collapses at crucial points of the match. Devam S. also took 2/56 in 9 overs. Vardaan S. was Man of the Match. We fought hard for this exciting, close victory.
